Sometimes, I really wonder whether India means only the North-India to the satellite TV news channels. Whenever you switch on the news channels, either Hindi or English, for more than half of the instances you would find the smallest things happening in the north. That too, especially in New Delhi or in nearby 

vicinity! As if, the rest part of the country, south in particular, does not exist!

Because of this attitude, the characters of hardly any importance to the pan-national interests on the larger canvas, like Mr.Arvind Kejriwal & his “team”, unnecessarily get undue coverage & hence importance which is undeserved. Any development, statement or reaction at the “state” level in Delhi features boldly across all the news channels as if it is of the top national interest. News & events of larger national importance are sidelined for the useless garbage activities happening in Delhi & surrounding. Thus, the entire limelight is subtly taken away by the low-importance leaders like Kejriwal & gang!

We witnessed this recently during the Chennai floods. This was a nightmare for the whole country, but the rubbish channels made it appear as a small disturbance without any impact on the national life. Also, after the floods, the Pondicherry CM visited Delhi to see the PM, but it could hardly feature in the national news channels. Common people like me came to know about it only after reading in the newspapers.

For a common citizen, there is hardly any difference in the levels of Kejriwal & the Pondicherry CM. Both are the chief ministers of small tiny states or a UT. It’s a fallacy that we do not even know & remember the name of the Pondicherry CM & Kejriwal’s name keeps on banging on our head for most of the time we watch or listen to the news. So many things must be happening in such small UTs or states, many good things might be underway at these places also, but how could we know about it?

This kind of approach on the part of media is certainly not helping the cause of togetherness. We can not blame the parts of our country like south & the remote NE , if they start feeling distance from the mainstream. Media should grow up & get matured enough to sense the thing…..

 आनंदाचा अमृतानुभव

 नुकताच “कट्यार काळजात घुसली” हा चित्रपट पाहिला.  दोन दिवस झाले तरी अजून त्याची मोहिनी उतरत नाही. काही काही प्रसंग, अनुभव वा घटना अशा असतात कि त्यांचा अविष्कार हा आपल्या कित्येक शुभंकर संचितांचा प्रसाद असतो. त्यातलाच हा चित्रपट…..

 कालप्रवाहा बरोबर लयाला गेलेल्या मराठी संगित रंगभूमीला पुनरुज्जिवित करण्याचा प्रयत्न अलिकडे होतोय. “कट्यार……“ ची निर्मितीचा त्याला मोठा हातभार लागणार आहे.

मूळ नाटकाच्या सौंदर्याला कुठलाही ओरखडा न जाऊ देता नितांतसुंदर चित्रपट बनवणे अवघड. त्यातून मूळ नाटक हे दारव्हेकर-अभिषेकी-वसंतराव देशपांडे ह्या हिमालयाएवढ्या कलावंतांनी ज्या प्रचंड उंचीवर नेऊन ठेवले आहे, त्यासमोर तोडीस तोड कलाकृती निर्माण करायची हे साधे आव्हान नव्हे! मात्र सुबोध भावेंनी अत्यंत लीलया ते पेललंय!

 अभिजात हिंदुस्थानी शास्त्रीय संगित आणि घराण्यांची गायकी हा ह्या “कट्यार……“ चा आत्मा. मूळ नाटकातली “घेई छंद…”, “तेजोनिधी लोहगोल” , “सुरत पियाकी” , “लागी करजवा” यासारखी पदे ज्या ताकदीने वसंतराव-अभिषेकींनी गायलीत त्याच ताकदीने आणि पुन्हा चित्रपट-माध्यमाच्या मर्यादा पाळून शंकर महादेवन, महेश काळे, राहुल देशपांडे ह्या कलाकारांनी गायलीत. नाटकात नसलेलं कथानक आणि  त्या अनुषंगाने येणारी नवी गाणी इतके दर्जेदार अन बेमालूम एकजीव झालेत की ते सारे मूळ कलाकृतीचाच भाग वाटावे…. पूर्वसुरींच्या भरजरी पैठणीला ठिगळ लावावे अथवा आचार्य अत्र्यांच्या भाषेत म्हणायचे तर दारव्हेकर- अभिषेकी- वसंतराव देशपांडे ह्यांच्या ताजमहालाला सुबोध आणि मंडळींनी स्वतःच्या विटा  लावाव्यात असं अजिबात झालेलं नाही. तर त्याच संगमरवराने आणि त्याच कलाकुसरीने हा ताजमहाल वाढवलाय….

जी गोष्ट जुन्या पदांची तीच नव्याने बनवलेल्या गीतांची. “ दिलकी तपिश” , “यार इलाही” ,” शिव भोला”  वगैरे गाणी आणि अरिजितसिंग सारख्या नव्या पिढितल्या गायकांची अदाकारी केवळ विलक्षण…..

 दिग्दर्शन, अभिनय,छायाचित्रण,लोकेशन्स,स्पेशल इफेक्टस….. अप्रतिम!! शंकर महादेवनचा अभिनेता म्हणून पदार्पणाचा सिनेमा. पण त्याने लाजवाब काम केलंय. पंडितजींचा अश्रापपणा त्याच्या मुळातल्याच निरागस चेहेर्‍यातून सुंदर व्यक्त झालाय. सुबोध भावेने सदाशिव अप्रतिम रंगवलाय. अमृता खानविलकर, मृण्मयी देशपांडे,साक्षी तन्वर ह्यांनी “ अभिनेत्री” पदाला योग्य न्याय दिलाय. …..  आणि “खांसाहेब”…….. सचिनचा खांसाहेब हा अष्टदिशांनी कुठल्याही कोनातून पाहिला तरी जातीवंत खांसाहेबच वाटतो. सचिनची जीभ तर बोलतेच, डोळेही बोलतात……..पण चेहेर्‍यावरची रेष-न-रेष बोलते, दाढीचा एकेक केसही बोलतो एवढी समरसून भूमिका त्यांनी साकारलीय. जणू भूमिका जगलेत.  आपल्या आयुष्यभराच्या कलासाधनेचं कसब एखाद्या भूमिकेसाठी पणाला लावावं आणि तिचं सोनं करावं असं भाग्य थोड्या कलावंतांना लाभतं.  ते याठिकाणी सचिनना लाभलंय. आपला आवाज, अभिनय, संवादफेक, उर्दूवरचं प्रभुत्व, देहबोली सर्वासर्वांच सोनं केलंय……

कुणा तृषार्ताची तहान भागवण्यासाठी कृष्णमेघांनी जलधारांचा वर्षाव करावा  अन त्याच्या शरीर-मनाला चिंब भिजवून टाकावं तसे अभिनय, अभिजात संगित यांच्या अमृत धारांनी आपण नखशिखांत भिजून तृप्त होतो…. त्या आनंदवर्षावाच्या धारा आपल्या डोळ्यांमधूनही कधी वाहू लागतात ,कळतही नाही…….

They say, “great men think alike!” It’s quite alright because values never change wrt time,space & ideologies. Narendra Modi’s ‘make in India” theme & campaign needs to be looked upon in the perspective of the “ Swadeshi” campaign that was launched during the freedom struggle. Lokamanya Tilak, Veer Sawarkar , Mahatma Gandhi & many more had insisted upon use of the indigenously made commodities in those times.

The reason is simple enough to understand.  The drain-out of Indian wealth would be arrested. The money would remain within the country itself for recirculation & re-investment. The prosperity cycle would continue & nation would excel. Moreover, employment opportunities would be created, bringing social welfare & peace & reduction in poverty.

But all this is only possible if the product or service created here competes the global challengers in cost, quality & ‘in- time delivery’ aspects. The real challenge comes in here. Because if this is to be achieved, we Indians have to do a lot of hard-work beginning from the makeover of our mindsets. Barring a few exceptions, not many of the common Indian employees possess industriousness in true sense.  

We love to enjoy holidays every now & then. Also, it’s a matter of investigation that out of 8 hours of our duty everyday, how much do we really contribute effectively. How much time we spend or waste in chatting  ,commenting, fighting ,doing non-value adding activities & doing such nonsense non-productive activities? Do we really deploy or utilize manpower that’s just enough for the task or do we field excess manpower which manifests “1 performer- 4 onlookers” scene? This all bears great deal of impact on the final product or service we render, in some or the other dimension of cost, quality or in-time delivery, that ultimately leads to disqualify us from the competition on the global arena ….

That’s why, if “Swadesi” or “Make in India” has to succeed, then it has to be seen in wider perspective & needs to be embraced with comprehensive transformation. Many of the fellow Indians had to give up clumsy & lethargic approach towards what they do.. .….  Because, we are occasional  & subjective patriots. We are overwhelmed with patriotism till it doesn’t affect our own interests. The moment it calls for a little sacrifice, then there is a problem. The common man supports swadeshi when he is a seller, but as soon as the same gentleman becomes a customer, he prefers cheaper Chinese product to the costlier Indian product!

If any campaign has to become a grand success, introspection is a must. Introspection, determination, transformation & sacrifice are the basic building blocks for any dream to come true……!!

Modi critics & opponents are riding on high tide these days as things are not falling in place.

I am a staunch Modi supporter but not a blind one. We know that it is going to take long time to set the things right. It’s going to be a long wait for the yields to come of policies adopted, trends set, reforms initiated. Short sighted people have already started making hue & cry for “Achchhe Din” on dearth & dearness front. This is a too sensitive & burning area for common man to hold on till the prices are in control as his very survival is directly linked to the issue. But still, persons like me are ready to sustain, though not easy at all, & bear the brunt understanding & appreciating that this issue has many affecting factors many of which are beyond the govt’s control. We also are aware that this is true nationalist govt under leadership of Modi which has to be supported for bright future of India over a long run.

So we may not necessarily expect the govt to show us the “Achchhe Din” on that front immediately. But would certainly expect the govt. to gain & exercise control over anarchy prevailing in the nation since too long a period, years before they took the reigns.....  

Anarchy of all sorts.  Leaders’ irresponsible, immature & ridiculous statements; some of them coming from responsible ministers like Gen V K Singh. He has questioned that if someone throws a stone at a stray dog, even then whether the govt is to be held responsible for that!! This is the kind of political immaturity, incompetency & insensitivity that drives the nation to the state of chaos. Govt. & the king has to have full control on whatever small or big thing happens in the land they rule over. It was to be proudly said about the great King of Maharashtra, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, that he used to have command even over the wind blowing through his empire!!!!  Rulers have to be that strong then only the nations flourish & shine with their fullest glory.....

What we witness today is total mayhem everywhere. It’s possible to bring the “Achchhe Din” on this front without any delay. Who has stopped the govt in curbing the criminals? Today, stray dogs & criminal/ political persons/ Gundas with muscle power are so rampant that they are competing with each other in embarrassing the common law abiding people. Govt can protect us neither from the menace of the stray dogs who are profuse in number rising day by day, nor from these politicized criminals. You cannot escape just by saying that it’s a matter of state govt.’s governance. You have ways & means to make them perform. At least in the states ruled by your own party like Maharashtra & Haryana, is it that difficult to bring in the law & order & the menace-free atmosphere? These are the fields where nothing, I repeat, nothing stops you to bring the “Achchhe Din” with immediate effect......

 गुलाम अलींच्या कार्यक्रमाला शिवसेनेने विरोध केला हे बघून खूप समाधान झालं. अजूनही बाळासाहेबांच्या धगधगत्या वारशाचे निखारे विझलेले नाहीत तर….!! ह्यावर ज्यांच्या कडून जशा प्रतिक्रिया यायच्या होत्या त्या तशाच आल्या.

केजरीवाल आणि बंगालच्या मंडळींनी गुलाम अलींना आपल्याकडे बोलावले. सावरकरांचा ज्वलंत राष्ट्रवाद ज्यांना कधीच कळू शकला नाही त्या केजरीवाल सारख्यांकडून यापेक्षा निराळी काय अपेक्षा असणार?

त्या तस्लिमा नसरीन म्हणून एक उपटसुंभ बांगलादेशी लेखिका आहेत. तिकडचे अतिरेकी त्यांच्या जिवावर उठलेत म्हणून भारतात आश्रयाला असतात. त्यांना चिंता हि की भारत सौदीसारखा कट्टर धर्मवादी बनतोय कि काय? आश्रिताने आश्रितासारखंच राहावं. विनाकारण यजमानाच्या घरात नाक खुपसू नये, हे त्यांना कळत नाही. रोज रोज सहन कराव्या लागत असलेल्या भारतमातेच्या वेदना ह्या उपर्‍या बाईला काय कळणार?

या सार्‍या महाभागांना, शिवसेनेचा विरोध हा त्या महान कलाकाराला नसून ते पाकिस्तानी आहेत ह्याला आहे- ते मुस्लीम आहेत म्हणून नव्हे; हे कळणार आहे का? पाकिस्तान सर्व पातळ्यांवर,क्षेत्रांत, आघाड्यांवर भारतद्वेषाची पराकाष्ठा करतो हे दिसत नाही? सीमेवर राजरोस आमच्या सैनिकांची, सीमा वासीय निष्पाप जनतेची कत्तल करतो हे नजरेआड करायचं? रोज उठून आमचे शूर शिपाई काश्मिरात हौतात्म्य पत्करताहेत याचं काहीच नाही?

राजकारण वेगळं आणि कला,संस्कृती,खेळ वेगळे; दोन्ही गोष्टी एकमेकात मिसळू नका असा सूर लावणार्‍यांच्या बुद्धीची कीव करावी तेवढी थोडीच. एखाद्या देशाशी असलेल्या संबंधांचे कंगोरे हे कांद्याच्या पापुद्र्यासारखे अलग अलग करता येत नाहीत. साकल्यानेच बघावे लागतात. आपल्या शेजारी राहात असलेल्या इसमाने सकाळी आपल्या थोबाडीत मारली, दुपारी आपली गाडी पंक्चर केली, आणि संध्याकाळी सत्यनारायणाच्या तीर्थप्रसादाचं आमंत्रण दिलं तर ते स्वीकारून त्याच्याकडे जाणं याला कोडगेपणा,भित्रेपणा आणि स्वाभिमानशून्यता म्हणतात. भारत भले सरकारी पातळीवर तसा बाणेदारपणा  दाखवू शकत नसेल, म्हणून भारतीय जनतेने पण तसं करू नये?

हुतात्मा हेमराजसिंगचं शिरविरहित कलेवर, मेजर उन्नीकृष्ण्नच्या मातेचा हंबरडा, कॅप्टन सौरभ कालियाचं विटंबना केलेलं मृत-शरीर या आणि अशा कित्येक गोष्टींच्या थडग्यांवर गालिचे अंथरून स्वर-संगिताची मैफल ऐकावी, त्यासाठी आमच्या स्मृतींवर कातडं ओढून, आक्रंदणार्‍या भारतेमातेच्या जखमा झाकून मुर्दाड पणे ह्या कलेचा आस्वाद घ्यावा असाच अर्थ सेनेच्या भूमिकेवर टीका करणार्‍यांचा दिसतो…..

शिवसेनेनेही अशा प्रकारच्या धोरणात एकवाक्यता जोपासायला हवी. इतर बॉलिवूड पाकिस्तानी कलाकार, जावेद सारखे क्रिकटर्स यांनापण हाच न्याय लावावा. त्याने त्यांच्या हेतूची प्रामाणिकता लोकांना पटेल आणि निष्कारणची कोल्हेकुई होणार नाही…..

 पुरुषप्रधान मानसिकता आपल्या जन्मापासूनच पिंडात नकळत भिनलेली असते असाच अनुभव येतो. मलाही लहानपणी कित्येकदा तो येत असे. हि मानसिकता भेदण्याची प्रवृतीपण जन्मजात असावी लागते,ती लाभण्या इतका मी सुदैवी आहे.

१०-११ वर्षांचा असताना मी सुटीत एका नातेवाईकाकडे गेलो होतो.  माझ्या वयाची ५-६ मुलं तिथं होती. त्या गृहस्थांनी एक दिवस आम्हा मुलांना एक कोडं घातलं. ते असं कि “ एक माणूस आपल्या मुलाला घेऊन दुचाकीवर जात असतो. वाटेत त्यांना अपघात होतो. तो मुलगा जखमी होतो. त्याचा बाप त्या मुलाला रुग्णालयात आणतो. मुलावर शस्त्रक्रिया करण्याची गरज असते. सर्जनना बोलावले जाते. सर्जन येतात, मुलाला बघतात आणि म्हणतात,की मी या मुलाची शस्त्रक्रिया मी करू शकणार नाही कारण हा माझा मुलगा आहे”. तर हे कसं शक्य आहे?? असं ते कोडं होतं…..

कोडं ऐकून सर्व मुलं बुचकळ्यात पडली. ‘सख्खा बाप-सावत्र बाप’ अशा प्रकारची उत्तरं काहींनी देऊन बघितली. माझी वेळ आल्यावर मी बरोबर उत्तर दिलं; की सर्जन व्यक्ती ही त्या मुलाची आई होती…..

माझं उत्तर ऐकून सर्वांच्या डोक्यात प्रकाश पसरला. तो पर्यंत, ‘सर्जन/डॉक्टर व्यक्ती ही स्त्री पण असू शकते’ अशी विचारांची दिशा कुणाचीच का नव्हती, याचं उत्तर त्या वयात मला मिळालं नव्हतं. ते मोठं झाल्यावर मिळालं, ते म्हणजे आमच्या समाजाची जन्मापासून होत असलेली पुरुषप्रधान मानसिकतेची जडणघडण….

अशाच अनुभवाचा पुनःप्रत्यय मला सुनिताबाईंचं “आहे मनोहर तरी” वाचताना आला होता. बाई (म्हणजे सुनिताबाई), कार चालवते हे बघून सुरुवातीला घाबरून पळू पाहणारी  मुलं नंतर बाजूच्या सीटवर बसलेल्या पु.लं. ना बघतात तेव्हा निर्धास्त होऊन मित्रांना म्हणतात, “भिऊ नका रे पोरहो; शिकिवनारा बाबा शेजारी बसलाय…”  म्हणजे, एकटी स्त्री  असेल तर ती चुकणारच; पण सांभाळून घेणारा पुरुष बरोबर असेल तर मग हरकत नाही….  वा रे वा….!!  अशी हि पुरुषप्रधान मानसिकता मुळातून बदलणं हेच मोठं आव्हान आहे!!

             Welcome gesture

In a heartening development, recently, Indian Muslim clerics & Ulemas have issued a “Fatwa” against the Islamic State, disapproving it’s activities ,intentions  & ideologies. This is a welcome gesture not only towards the integrity of the community but also can be looked upon as the positive shift in the community’s paradigm to place the national interest over the attachment &  love for their  own religion. Because the dividing line between the affection towards one’s own religion & fanaticism is very thin & deceptive!

This prudent act is endorsed by a couple of incidences happening across the globe these days.

The exodus of the refugees fleeing away from the terror & grief stricken countries like Syria & Libya is pondering on the banks of European countries like Italy, Hungary, Germany & Greece. Many are trying to escape to Canada for asylum. Majority of the population is Kurdish & Muslims . But these people choose to risk their lives with perilous journey to European countries rather than to the Arab or other African Muslim countries which happen to be their own religion states. This implies that they find it more secure & safe in the non-Islamic countries which are basically democratic countries. One is confident to be safe, secure & can look forward to excel, prosper & blossom if he places himself in the liberal society. Also, although the Muslim countries like Turkey, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt ,Saudi etc. have accommodated many refugees in recent years, they are not seen at present appealing to the fleeing refugees not to risk their lives to travel all the way to Europe & take shelter in their own  refugee camps instead!

The second incidence is from Myanmar. Off late, it’s learnt that for the coming polls, there is not a single Muslim candidate featuring in the political parties’ contestants’ list. Also the names of the Rohingya Muslim voters have been discarded from the electoral list.& the point worth noting is that the Muslims is the second largest population  in Myanmar. This amply enlightens the status of minorities in that country.

These & likewise several things keep on happening every now & then; which make the minorities in our country to endeavor enhance their blending  to bring in cohesiveness within the Indian society. The aforesaid act of the Ulema council, therefore, is perfectly in line with the need of the hour in India ……

These are the thoughts I had shared on Facebook before the monsoon session of the parliament....BJP & Sushama are not expected to be seen in any sorts of doubts & controversies. If they have done something wrong or unethical,then the act can not become subsided or receded by pointing out towards similar acts of the others committed in past. We know that those people are unworthy, that's why you have been chosen to rule! You have to be different......

......Women "power" has always troubled the BJP in the recent past. Remember the Vajpayee led NDA government about 15 years ago . How Mr. Vajpayee's govt. was taken to task by the then mighty leaders like Mamata, Jaylalitta & Mayavati & finally succumbing to their pressure.

Now it’s Namo’s turn, it appears. The way the demonstrations against the Sushma, Vasundhara’s acts in Lalit Modi’s favour & Smruti’s fake degree scandal are being staged by the opposition; the media adding fuel to the fire every now & then; & AAP-like parties trying to bite off from every possible side, it’s quite clear what the fate of the parliament’s monsoon session would be.

Whatever might be the truth about Sushma Swaraj’s involvement in favouring the absconding wanted criminal, Lalit Modi. The act of hers may or may not be wrong by the word of law. But as far as the spirit of the law is concerned, she has definitely hurt & violated the spirit of the law by endorsing his request to the British authorities.

This is completely unacceptable & unexpected from the minister with clean image & from the party with a difference. For, Caesar's wife must be above suspicion!!!!

 सिंहस्थ कुंभमेळ्याचा बाजार गरम आहे.देशाच्या काना-कोपर्‍यातून अनेक आखाडे,मठ यांचे साधू-संत-महंत जथ्या-जथ्याने नाशकात दाखल होतायत. साधूग्राम मध्ये गजबज दिसू लागलिय. शासन-प्रशासन कमरेत लव-लवून धर्माचार्यांच्या खिदमतीत राबतेय. साधूंच्या-महंतांच्या सेवेत,तैनातीत कसलीही कमतरता भासू नये ह्याची पदोपदी काळजी घेतली जाताना दिसतेय.  प्रथा-परंपरेच्या काटेकोर अंमलबजावणीतीही त्रुटी राहू नये, संतांचा रोष ओढवू नये यासाठी आटापिटा केला जातोय. साधू-संन्याशांची एवढी काळजी,इतकी बडदास्त पेशवाईतही ठेवली गेली नसेल!

कुंभमेळा व्हावा कि न व्हावा; हा खर्च आवश्यक की अनाठायी या खोलात मला जायचं नाही. एकच वाटतं, प्रामाणिक करदात्यांचा एवढा पैसा, शासन यंत्रणेची एवढी उर्जा-वेळ-स्रोत जर दरिद्री-नारायणाच्या कल्याणासाठी-उत्थानासाठी वापरले गेले, तर अशा दहा कुंभमेळ्यांच्या पुण्यापासून मिळणार्‍या फळापेक्षा उत्तम फळ देशाला प्राप्त होइल. पण दिसत असलेल्या ऐहिक प्रगतीपेक्षा न दिसणार्‍या कल्पित पारलौकिक   पुण्यप्राप्तीची आस असणार्‍या  मानसिकतेस हे पटावे कसे?

 संत-सज्जनांच्या सेवेकरता केलेला खर्च सत्कारणी असेल तर वाईट वाटण्याचं कारण नाही. पण जे चित्र दिसतं ते पाहून संभ्रम निर्माण होतो. अनेक साधू-अनेक तर्‍हा ! अनेक वैशिष्ट्ये. कित्येकांकडे पाहून त्यांना  साधू-सज्जन म्हणणे जीवावर येते. मुळात “साधू” ह्या शब्दाची व्याख्या बघितली तर ह्यापैकी किती महाभाग त्या कसोटीला उतरतील,याची शंकाच आहे. “साधू” म्हणजे “सहा-धू”! काम,क्रोध,लोभ,मोह, मद,मत्सर हे सहा शत्रू ज्याने जिंकले,तो साधू !!

आपल्या सरबराईत थोडे कमी पडले, थोडे मनासारखे झाले नाही तर प्रचंड आकांडतांडव करणारे मुख्य मुख्य धर्माचार्य, त्यांचे सहकारी हे क्रोध जिंकलेले साधू? शैव-वैष्णव एकमेकांकडे ज्या “प्रेमाने” बघतात तो प्रकार साधुत्वाचा ? अंगाला राख फासली असून मोबाईल फोन, लॅपटॉप, चिलीम, (तीत कुठला पदार्थ असतो ते सोडा!) यांची कामना असणारे ते मोह जिंकलेले साधू?  एकाच पंथाच्या निरनिराळ्या आखाड्यांमध्ये असतो तो मत्सररहित व्यवहार ? साधूग्राम मध्ये मोक्याची जागा मिळावी ही इच्छा बाळगणारे ते लोभ-मुक्त साधू?  आसाराम बापू- राधेमां वगैरेंसारखे लोक म्हणजे काम-विजयी साधू-साध्वी?

खरे-खुरे संत-सत्पुरुष आणि तथाकथित साधू यात जमिन-अस्मानाचा फरक आहे. साईबाबा कधी कुठल्या कुंभमेळ्यात गेल्याचे ऐकले नाही. गजानन महाराजंनी कुठल्या पर्वणीत गंगा-स्नान केल्या्चा उल्लेख नाही. स्वामी-समर्थ, गोंदवलेकर महाराज कधी आपला शिष्यपरिवार घेउन पुण्य संपादनार्थ कुंभात सहभागी झाल्याचा दाखला नाही. खरीखुरी पुण्यप्राप्ती लोककल्याणात नसून कर्मकांडात आहे हे कदाचित त्यांना माहित नसावं!!

                                माध्यमांची प्रगल्भता

 देशहितविरोधी,परधार्जिण्या आणि फक्त TRP मध्येच रस असणार्‍या खाजगी प्रसार-माध्यमांचा चांगल्यापेक्षा सनसनाटी पणा कडेच ओढा असतो; मग ती बातमी राष्ट्रविघातक वा वाईट प्रवृतींच्या उदात्तीकरणाची का असेना. याकूबची फाशी, त्याची अंत्ययात्रा, त्याच्या नातेवाईकांचा कळवळा, यात अब्दुल कलामांचा धीरगंभीर अंत्यविधी पार बाजूला टाकला. संजीव चतुर्वेदी आणि अंशु गुप्ता या भारतीयांना आशियाई नोबेल समजला जाणारा रेमन मॅगसेसे पुरस्कार मिळाला ह्याची कुठे दखलही घेतली गेलेली दिसली नाही.

पाकिस्तानी दहशतवादी पकडला याचं चर्वितचर्वण कालपासून करताना मोझांबिकचे राष्ट्रपती आपल्या दौर्‍यावर आले आहेत हे माध्यमांच्या गावीही नाही.  ह्याच ठिकाणी जर अमेरिका/ UK चे नेता आले असते तर २४ तास ते TV वर दिसले असते.  तिसर्‍या जगातल्या देशांचेही जागतिक राजकारणात महत्व आहे याची प्रगल्भ जाणिव माध्यमांना नाही.

 आताच मह्त्वाचा नागा-करार केंद्राने पूर्ण केलाय. ह्याचं ऐतिहासिक महत्व कल्पनातीत आहे. देशाच्या राष्ट्रीय आणि आंतरराष्ट्रीय राजकारणावर अतिशय दूरगामी परिणाम करणारा हा करार आहे. किती माध्यमांनी ह्याची पुरेशी आणि गांभिर्याने दखल घेतली? आणि त्याचवेळी दुसरीकडे छोटा शकीलचं संभाषण परत परत दाखवलं जातं, हेच माध्यमांची maturity किती तकलादू आहे ते अधोरेखित करतं.

देशाच्या एकंदरीत परिपक्वतेचं प्रतिबिंब हे त्याच्या माध्यमांच्या आरशात जग बघत असतं. त्या दृष्टीने आपण जगाला कसे दिसत असू,याची कल्पना केलेली बरी.

India is a free land for all the crookes, disloyal & dumb people.

The so called intellectual secularists always lead the front of such people. The unfortunate thing is, the most influential electronic & English print media always become the voice of such malicious personnel.

The point they are defending is not the alleged; rather, proven involvement in the ’93 Mumbai blasts. The point is, the involvement was indirect, then Yakub’s surrender in the case was negotiated against sparing him from the ultimate punishment; the surrender was to unveil the involvement of Pakistan in the blasts; that Yakub is being hung in lieu of his absconding brother Tiger Memon as a revenge & not the entire of the legitimate means offered by the law to save one from the execution’s punishment have been let use; the technicalities of the judicial process were violated etc etc…..

When the national security had been put at stake, it becomes irrelevant whether the culprit was allowed all the lawful means to explore to save his life or not. When the culprit has been involved in treachery which is proven in the trial, it is senseless to protest if some of minor judicial formalities are skipped off or jumped. The ultimate national interest has to be to take the betrayer to his justice.

May be his involvement was not as deep as that of his brother. So what? Involvement was there no? Then was he not a cause; whatever tiny be it, for the loss of hundreds of families?

In any of the progressive nations, whatever liberal they might be otherwise, when it comes to safeguard the national interests, when it comes to take revenge on their enemies, all the so called intellectuals’ voices, the human rights imperatives , the liberisation movements , freedom of the media etc  are subtly contracted & silenced by the governments. Rather, these “forward” leftists of those countries exhibit the maturity themselves & keep shut on such occasions to support their very national interests. In India, we have long way to go to called ourselves as a “progressive” nation.
